Compression mounting compounds utilize heat and pressure to encapsulate a specimen. Buehler's compounds minimize shrinkage while protecting and preserving sample edges during preparation.

Phenocure powders are wood-flour thermoset sins that provide good edge retention and moderate shrinkage.
